A critter birthday

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your bank holiday weekend! Today I am up on the Papermilldirect blog showing you how to make this sweet critter card.

Products I used:

White Card Plain 250gsm

Raspberry Pink Plain Card 240gsm

Apple Green Card Plain 240gsm

Black Plain Card 250gsm

Anita’s PVA Tacky Glue 60ml

Stick it! 3D Foam Squares (940 pcs)

Stick it! Double Sided Tape 6mm

• pigment inks

• ink blending tool or sponge

• stamps

• markers

• embossing powder

• heat gun

• Dies/ cricut machine

To start with I made my card base using White Card Plain 250gsm which I scored and folded in half to make my card base. I then cut down a piece of White Card Super Smooth 300gsm, which is my favourite cardstock to craft with as its so versatile. I then used some pigment inks and my sponge to make a blended background. You can use whatever colours you like for your card, I used some pinks and yellows for my background.  I then added this to the front of my card base using Stick it! Double Sided Tape 6mm.

I then used another piece of White Card Super Smooth 300gsm to stamp my images and colour them in. I used copic markers for this as this card is absolutely perfect for using your alcohol markers on. Once all my images were coloured and cut I really wanted to add some more bright colours to my card.  I used a die to cut the grass and I used this lovely card Apple Green Card Plain 240gsm which is perfect for adding some grass or hills to your creation. I then die cut the words happy using Raspberry Pink Plain Card 240gsm which is another favourite of mine.

I then added all my elements to the card front. For the die cut Happy letters I used Anita’s PVA Tacky Glue 60ml to stick the letters down which is great as it sticks really well. I added some of this to grass die and placed the grass at the bottom of my card. I then stuck down the animals with some Stick it! 3D Foam Squares (940 pcs).  To finish the card off I stamped the word birthday and heat embossed this onto some Black Plain Card 250gsm (another favourite). I then added some Stick it! 3D Foam Squares (940 pcs) to the back of this and added this just under the die cut words happy.

I think adding some bright colours of cardstock to your card really adds fun and it will certainly make someone smile.

Boys birthday card

Hello! I always find masculine cards really tricky to make but this one is simple and pretty easy to create.

Products used:

Papermill direct slate grey card stock

Navy plain card

White card super smooth card stock (my favourite)

Stick it 3D foam tape

Anita’s PVA glue

I have a full tutorial on the Papermilldirect blog I would love for you to have a read.

I used a star background stamp which I heat embossed with clear embossing powder, this is great for adding some shine and texture. I then used this sweet bus stamp and coloured the image in with my copic markers. The last step was to stick my stamped greeting and the card is complete.

Do you find men’s/ boys card difficult to make? Sometimes I get stuck working on them and they end up in such a mess they go in the bin! Ha! This card is simple to make so hopefully your card will turn out fine. Plus it helps having some more masculine card stock colours in your stash, this really helped me to make the card. It would look more feminine on a white card base so lots of dark colours is always helpful.

If you re make this card please let me know I would love to see your creation!

Thank you for stopping by, have a lovely evening!

Vic
